High School Students Carry Forward Culture of Military Service

This week, more than 275 rising high school seniors registered to be recognized at the annual Military Honor Cord Ceremony at Fort Jackson.

Hosted by the South Carolina Department of Education, the event recognized these brave students' commitment to enlist after graduation. Keynote speaker, SCDVA Secretary Todd McCaffrey highlighted the incredibly high standards these students met, noting that fewer than 1 in 4 young adults currently qualify to serve. From a massive surge in JROTC enrollment to deep-rooted family traditions, South Carolina continues to play a critical role in national defense.
