Governor's Challenge Corner: Mental Health Awareness Month

In South Carolina, mental health challenges affect thousands of individuals, including many Veterans, which is why the Governor’s Challenge Group is highlighting May as Mental Health Awareness Month.

Veterans often face unique stressors tied to military service, trauma, and the transition to civilian life. Additionally, the observance of Memorial Day on Monday can be a challenging holiday for many service members, Veterans, and their loved ones.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has also launched their own mental health month campaign featuring Veterans discussing their own mental health symptoms, treatments, and recovery stories.
